Calcaneous
Fractures

A person with a calcaneus fracture has broken the heel bone. The
calcaneus bone is a strong bone that is difficult to fracture. The most
common mechanism of injury is a fall onto the heels from a significant
height. The calcaneus bone can also sustain tiny hairline fractures
called a stress fracture. Stress fractures of the calcaneus bone are
most commonly seen in distance runners.
