A broken leg is a crack or break in any of 3 bones that are located in
the leg. Most breaks happen to the tibia because it is the smallest of the three
bones. The picture above shows a break in both the tibia and the fibula of the
lower leg. The femur is the bone of the upper leg and is the largest of the
three therefore it is the least often broken.
